ANY excuse to visit the beautiful Texas Hill Country, as well as the charming town of Fredericksburg is good enough for me. There’s some great beer being made along Main Street from the friendly folks at Fredericksburg Brewing Company. In fact, we caught them on the date of their 20th anniversary!
Brewmaster Rick Green emphasized that theirs is a shared operation — this is “Your Brewery,” where one can relax in their Biergarten, converse with the locals and even stay the night. That’s right, this is no ordinary brewery. The oldest and most acclaimed brewpub in Texas is also a Bed & Brew! There’s 12 rooms total to choose from, and when you book your stay, guests can choose from a pint of their favorite beer or their handy sample set…along with your fresh sheets and towels. 😉
As of September 5th, current beers on tap include their Pioneer Porter (the most award-winning of the bunch), Peacepipe Ale, the Not So Dumb Blonde Ale, Enchanted Rock Red Ale (their top seller) and, for a limited time, thier 20th Anniversary Double IPA (lots of hops!).
You may also notice a line forming outside for lunch…that’s routine around these parts. There’s a lot of great German food to showcase here, whether its their Sausage Sampler – one link of Knackwurst, Bratwurst and Pepperwurst – served with traditional sides like sauerkraut and red cabbage. Or the Best Reuben in Town…1/4 lb corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese on pumpernickel bread with their famous Russian dressing:
Plan ahead, make reservations, because it’s all here on Main Street! Experience this historic destination, complete with unique beer and hearty eats today.
