Yardbird brined in sweet tea & roasted.
If your new year’s resolutions included breaking out of the same old restaurant routine, you’ll want to get a table at one of Houston’s hot new spots, Bramble.
Bramble boasts an open kitchen, live fire and a patio that’s home to the chef’s garden. Tucked away in West Houston, Bramble menu is an offering of small and large plates, items that change on a daily basis. While that might put a lot of demand on the staff and the chef, it is great for those of us who are adventurous diners, love to support local restaurants and are inspired to try new things.
Bramble finds inspiration for its menu from local farms and ranches. And those inspirations are transformed daily depending on the chef’s whims. The menu combines nostalgia with trends—a modern take on comfort food.
Dinner at Bramble starts off with the bread box, a warm and delicious assortment of rolls. A sampling that sets the stage for the dinner to come.
A stand out entree was the Yard Bird. To call it just a “dish” is an understatement; it’s a half chicken seeped in sweet tea brine, roasted, then served with caramelized cabbage and a hint of garlic. In a world where so many restaurants have chicken on the menu, you could almost taste the time that went into this one to set it apart.
Our Goodtaste producer went vegan and the chef prepared her an off-the-menu Mushroom Fricasse. The dish was delish with its mushrooms, egg, and bean dumplings.
Rounding out the meal was a scrumptious Cutie Cake for dessert. Made with fresh Cutie oranges and an amazing cream cheese icing, it’s unique flavor capped off a delicious dinner.
Great food, relaxed atmosphere and a staff that truly wants their patrons to be happy, Bramble offers a nice take on feel good food.
