Autumn is in the air, meaning it’s a great time to get out and dine outdoors around Houston. Some of the best restaurants in the world hail from here–and that’s no overstatement! It’s all about festive fall themed cuisine at these go-to spots around town…
D’Amico’s is a fun Italian cafe and market…and currently celebrating 40 years of service with new menu items, as well as the return of classics like their Straw & Hay Pasta: spinach & egg pastas tossed with prosciutto, fresh peas, mushrooms in a delectable Alfredo sauce. To die for…
A natural pairing for this dish is the Chardonnay by Joseph Carr Wines. NY Times Wine Critic Eric Asimov once called him a winemaker to watch! Find JC’s Chardonnay as well as his Cabernet Sauvignon (also quite good) at H-E-B for under $20.
Global flavors meet locally sourced ingredients from the Gulf Coast at Paul’s Kitchen – an excellent choice for brunch, lunch and dinner any day of the week. Located in Upper Kirby and just over a year old.
Right now, I’m loving Paul’s Pan Seared Salmon. It’s plated with a cauliflower puree, on a bed of crispy cauliflower with golden raisins, purslane and smoked tomato butter. A gorgeous presentation through and through:
Dessert fans will also thoroughly appreciate their seasonal Peanut Butter Cheesecake. Resting on a chocolate and peanut streusel, topped with a thick slice of candied bacon. Our wine pairing here is this Villa Mt. Eden Pinot Noir…a $10 Pinot out of the Santa Maria Valley that absolutely blew me away!
Brennan’s of Houston is so much about the dining experience; the kind of place you go for an extra special meal or occasion. Executive Chef Danny Trace is also among the best in the business! Feast your eyes on Chef’s mouthwatering Tomahawk Pork Chop with dry cherry sauce and pickled veggies on the side…a thing of culinary beauty:
Try the Alexander Valley Vineyards Lot C as a compliment – a ‘bigger’ red blend (Merlot/Zinfandel/Cabernet) also less than $20 at H-E-B!
