There’s something about Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein and other colorful expatriates living in Paris in the early 1900’s that intrigues me. I loved Woody Allen’s clever, whimsical movie Midnight in Paris and the novel that portrays that period in time ‘The Paris Wife’ by Paula McClain. Hemingway was a fascinating character, flaws and all.
If you, too, are captivated by the Hemingway era, you can celebrate his 114th birthday on Sunday, July 21, from 7 to 11:30pm, at Ocho, Hotel Havana’s signature restaurant and lounge. Guests can enjoy live music by Colao, $5 Hemingway Daiquiris and food specials. The event is set against the backdrop of pan-Latin-inspired Hotel Havana and its architectural union of old and new cultural influence.
Portions of the proceeds will be donated to the San Antonio Public Library Foundation to support literacy and awareness efforts. Plus, there’s no cover fee to attend!
