IF you have a best friend at least once in your life, a real soul mate that you can share your innermost thoughts with, then you are truly blessed. I lost my dear friend to breast cancer some years ago. Patrice died during the month of September, and she’s often in my thoughts a lot in early Fall.
Breast Cancer touches so many whether it’s a friend, a mother, sister or other relative. There’s a group of women in medicine and law, who with their friends, actively work to raise money to find a cure for breast cancer. Over the past nine years they’ve raised more than $1,000,000.
Perhaps more importantly, those donations are forwarded to Susan G Komen for the Cure in the form of a restricted grant for medical research. In other words, the funds are not put into some general fund that could end up paying for copy machines or business lunches. Those monies are going directly to find a cure!
If you’d like to be a part of a wonderful event that raises money specifically to find a cure for breast cancer, consider signing up for a fun event called Paint The Parkway Pink on October 20. There is a 5K run/walk, a 1-mile family walk and a kids’ fun run in the Stone Oak area. You can get more information here.
