We just returned from tasting wines in the Willamette Valley in Oregon…what an incredibly beautiful place, and yes, the wines were lovely. The pinot noirs were wonderful, Rex Hill is not to be missed, and we enjoyed an Apolloni Pinot Blanc we discovered at a fabulous Peruvian restaurant in Portland.
Our other fun discovery was the Farmer’s Market in Portland.
What a fabulous market it is! In addition to all the great produce, there was a variety of artisan food products like pesto arugula, salumis and flavored goat cheeses. Also, we discovered these flavored vinegars.
We spent some time talking to the owner/creator, Connie, who took us through a tasting of the many flavors…blueberry basil (my favorite), loganberry, wildflower honey…even habanero. We loved them!
They can be mixed with club soda or tonic (I prefer the latter) for a very refreshing summer drink, or there are all kind of recipes you can make with them. Many folks say vinegars are actually healthy for you to drink. If you’d like more info on the vinegars, head to BlossomVinegars.com can order them online also. Enjoy!
Also, don’t forget our wonderful Farmers’ Market at the historic Pearl every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. It’s a fun way for your entire family to spend the morning.
