The beautiful, spacious restaurant is located behind Wild Fish off Huebner and 1604. If you’ve ever been to a Paris brasserie, let the memories begin. The decor is wonderful. From the massive mahogany bar with beautiful brass accouterments to the dramatic 20 foot ceilings and colorful tile floor, Brasserie Pavil is a sight to behold. But it’s not just about the ‘decor’ – the food is wonderful. The grilled calamari salad was a meal all by itself – tender, spiced calarmari with french green beans and razor thin beets. I LOVED it. The perfectly seared scallops with asparagus were also DELICIOUS. Pommes Frites (french fries) accompany a lot of the entrees, and they are wonderful – thin, crispy and served with a decadent aioli.

We enjoyed the sommelier, Adam Spencer, who was very friendly, down to earth and extremely helpful in pairing wines with our dishes. The wine list, by the way, is a nice compilation of French wines and features some wonderful American producers as well…Merry Edwards and Rocchioli among my favs not to mention a few choice cabernets. Plus, beer afficianados, the list will entice! Chef Extraordinaire Scott Cohen shines in this new setting (he was the executive chef at La Mansion and The Watermark for years), and it’s no surprise to hear that Pat Kennedy (former owner of La Mansion and The Watermark) is the owner here too. The word “quality” comes to mind!

Brasserie Pavil makes a statement — the bar has been raised for Northside diners!
