Sysco Central Texas cooking facilities played host once again to Goodtaste.tv, this time as we caught up with another amazing chef, Jeffery Balfour, of Citrus Restaurant and Vbar at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. He’s a fabulous chef and whipped together some beautifully braised beef sopes, or short ribs, for our cameras to capture.

If you’ve been to Garrido’s lately, you may have noticed some changes. Where the focus was once on modern Mexican cuisine, the tempo has switched now to “New Word Latino” with emphasis on healthier, organic and gluten-free products.

There was a little something for everyone at the 2013 Paella Challenge at the fabulous Pearl Brewery. On Sunday, March 10th, the annual competition featured fine weather and even finer culinary talent from here in San Antonio and beyond. It all begins at the Pantry, where various chefs come to stock up on beautiful produce that’s been donated (in large part) by the folks of Sysco Central Texas — a faithful sponsor all four years so far!
Wounded warriors from all over were honored on Wednesday, March 6th at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio. Sysco’s presence was felt in a BIG way, sponsoring the event that brought out the likes of TV personality, Chef Robert Irvine (Restaurant: Impossible), as well as Lt. Dan himself — actor Gary Sinise!
