Texas wines keep getting better and better. I believe the Becker’s outside of Fredericksburg deserve a lot of the credit for setting the bar higher for Texas producers.

Fall Creek Vineyards: A beautiful Texas hill country winery
I’ve got a fun road trip for you today. It’s one of Texas oldest wineries in the beautiful Hill Country near Lake Buchanan. Check out Fall Creek Vineyards…it’s about 20 minutes north of Marble Falls. Ask to see their famous Louis Pasteur doors.
Gruene Door’s award-winning lemon tart
This delicious lemony delight was voted one of San Antonio’s TOP TEN desserts in the San Antonio Express News. The Gruene Door next door to historic Gruene in New Braunfels is a wonderful restaurant with some really nice folks like the pastry chef who agreed to share her award winning recipe with you.
Wildflowers and Wine – A Perfect Pairing
With the Texas Hill Country as our backyard, we sure do have it so good in San Antonio! I love this time of year as the Hill Country takes on new life with wildflowers blooming along roadsides and trails. And after our rainy winter, this spring promises to be spectacular. But it’s not just wildflowers […]
Shopping in Boerne… Love It!
Diva Night in Boerne this week was a huge success and so much fun. All of Main Street stayed open late with fun shopping, champagne and some delectable truffles. We were a group of about 13, and we rented an incredible limo from Lone Star Limos to drive us to and from the shopping event. […]
The Gruene Door
There’s a delightful new restaurant in Gruene, Texas…actually just down the road from historic Gruene—The Gruene Door. The food is wonderful! And yes, they have a nice wine list too. Check out the beautiful glazed salmon they prepared for us.
Let's Eat Cake
When the request came in this week to judge a cake baking contest I immediately said yes. Afterall, it’s cake…it’s bound to be good. Turns out this contest wasn’t about the ‘taste’ of the cake but more the ‘technique’ of decorating the cake. Four of the six custom cake decorators at the HEB Plus at […]
Texas Wineries vs Napa?
There’s a virtual goldmine right in our own backyard. Texas wineries! Texas Hill Country wineries have reason to be particularly proud. The Texas Agricultural Department asked me to host their first-ever video podcasts called ‘Go Texan Wine’, and they turned out to be a fascinating learning experience. I was surprised to find out that the […]

Okay get onboard. Texas wines are in the news. Time to visit a local winery and see what all the buzz is about. Delicious Summer Salad
What a great time of year to visit Gruene, TX just outside of New Braunfels on the Guadalupe River. Whether you’re hungry after a fun day on the river or if you’ve got a large group of people and want a great place to hang for a few hours, head to the Gristmill Restaurant.

‘Good Ole Boys’ & Good Times at Mozie’s
I absolutely love Mozie’s, the new restaurant in Gruene, Texas. Pat Molak and the gang did an incredible job restoring this 100+ year old building. And the food is delicious. It’s hard to choose between the decadently, deliciously greasy sliders and the fresh chicken salad — then there are those amazing little ribs.
