The Original Black's Barbecue Beer Can Chicken
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, raw
- salt and pepper
- 1 can beer, mild lager (such as Budweiser) or a hoppy IPA (such as Karbach Hopadillo)
- extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Season the chicken under the skin with salt and pepper.
- Drink half the beer (only kidding!)
- Poke holes in the beer can for more ventilation and more flavor to escape
- Rub olive oil on the can so it won't stick
- Put the beer can into the cavity of the chicken. Alternatively, you can use a beer can chicken stand for this.
- Place on the smoker until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165℉.
- Remove the chicken from the smoker, let rest, then remove the beer can from the chicken.
- Trim and carve the chicken and enjoy!
Notes
IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure the label on your beer can is not a plastic wrap or sticker. It must be printed.
