Creamy mac and cheese combined with Black's Barbecue chopped brisket is wrapped in a flaky biscuit dough and fried to crispy, golden perfection. These bite-sized snacks are perfect for parties, game days, or when you want a hearty snack with a Texas BBQ twist.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Black's Barbecue chopped brisket
- 1½ cups prepared mac and cheese (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 can premade flaky biscuit dough
- vegetable oil (for frying)
- your favorite dipping sauces (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped brisket with the mac and cheese. Stir until the brisket is evenly distributed throughout the mac and cheese mixture.
- Open the can of flaky biscuit dough and peel off thin layers from each biscuit. Gently flatten the layers with your fingers or a rolling pin until they're about ¼ inch thick.
- Take a spoonful of the brisket-mac and cheese mixture and place it in the center of each flattened dough layer. Wrap the dough around the filling, pinching the edges to seal. Make sure the dough is sealed well to prevent the filling from leaking during frying.
- In a skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350℉.
- Carefully place the wrapped bites into the hot oil, frying in batches so you don’t overcrowd the skillet. Fry each bite for 2-3 minutes per side, until they are golden brown and crispy all around.
- Once fried, use tongs or a slotted spoon to transfer the bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Serve these brisket mac and cheese bites with your favorite dipping sauces or enjoy them on their own.
Notes
Pitmaster Tips:
Filling tip: If your mac and cheese is a bit too creamy, let it cool slightly before mixing with the brisket to prevent it from becoming too runny during frying
Seal tightly: Make sure to pinch the dough well around the filling to avoid any leaks while frying.
Oil temperature: Keep the oil at a consistent 350°F to ensure even frying without making the bites greasy
