S6E14 – Boo Ray’s, Best of Side Dishes and Rudy & Paco

This weekend, buckle up for some exciting Texas hotspots on an ALL-NEW episode of Goodtaste!

Cue the New Orleans jazz! We’re cooking up Cajun classics at Boo Ray’s in Fort Worth. A New Orleans native, the chef here kicks up the recipes he learned at his mother’s side like hand-breaded catfish with a zesty, creamy jalapeño sauce or cedar plank salmon brushed with garlic-honey butter. The party doesn’t stop here, wash it down with their Bourbon Street-style cocktails like a Hurricane, Voodoo Juice and more!

No monster steak or saucy ribs are complete without some epic sides. We traveled across the Lone Star State to dig into some of the best side dishes around! From Houston and Austin to Dallas, we try a decadent bruléed sweet corn pudding, amazing “Chowda” Fries, creamy gorgonzola-and-prosciutto mashed potatoes and a dish you won’t believe: The Texas Avalanche!

The fresh seafood at Rudy & Paco in Galveston is caught just blocks from the restaurant. We stop in to try it for ourselves and check out this hotspot named in the ‘Top 100 Restaurants’ in 2017 and ‘Most Romantic Restaurants in America’ in 2018 rated by OpenTable. The father and daughter owners who run the restaurant are inspired by their Central American heritage and it shows in dishes like the Pargo Simpatico — plantain-crusted snapper topped with jumbo lump crab.
