A new year means new wines — with resolutions in mind! All of these wines are said to promote good health (in moderation, of course). As always, you can get these bottles (and many more!) at your local H-E-B.
Up first, Sella & Mosca Cannonau Di Sardegn Riserva! People on the island of Sardinia, Italy, where the grenache grapes are from, live well into their 90’s and some age to over a 100. Whether it promotes longevity or not, you’ll taste plenty of blackberries on this wine, a hint of tobacco and white pepper. It’s medium-bodied and would pair beautifully with a variety of foods like roast meats — even chicken. $20
Next, another wine said to promote good health — the Bodega Garzon Tannat Reserva from Uruguay, Argentina. Tannats are said to be one of the healthiest grape varietals. This wine is big and bold, but with a smooth, pleasing finish. It’s perfect for any meat coming off your grill!
And chardonnay fans, we didn’t forget you! Let us introduce you to the Paris Valley Road Chardonnay from California. You’ll taste crisp apples and a hint of melon, along with a slight toasted bread note. The wine is bright and crisp and easy to drink all by itself or perfect for pasta or roast chicken. $11
