Food is what brings people together, so why not bring everyone together who brings food to you? Local Farmers and ranchers from all over the state stock our stores and fill our tables, so The Butcher’s Ball is highlighting them with a delicious day of food, drink, music and education. One of the top chefs attending is Sarah Heard from Foreign & Domestic. I stop by to visit my friends at We Are Austin and give you a sneak peek of what Sarah will be serving, plus mix up your drinking routine with some seasonal wine blends. Watch the segment here!
Tanji’s Wine Finds:
This is perfect for the spooky season! The Hob Nob Wicked Red Blend Limited Edition is fruit-forward, but not sweet. On the nose, you’ll get roasted coffee, mocha, toasted hazelnut, plus a bit of spice and hints of orange zest. It’s rich, warm and has a smooth finish. $10
Our next find is a little unusual, but in the best way. The Wolftrap White Wine Blend is made with Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc and Viognier, which gives the wine body. I love this unique blend because it’s aged in French oak. It tastes a bit creamy and oaky on the palate and smells of honeysuckle, green apple and lemon. $11
This next pick is from a phenomenal producer in Spain. The Juan Gil Jumilla Red Blend is a big red wine with Monastrell and Cabernet grapes, but is very smooth. It has hints of dark red fruits like red berry and plum that would pair wonderfully with a grilled steak. $17
As always, thank you to our good friends at KEYE CBS Austin! You can find all of these wines at your local H-E-B or buy them online at HEB.com. Bonus: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles.
