One bite of the Spaghetti with Lamb Meatballs from Stella Public House and you’ll be shouting “Mama Mia”! Known for their creative wood-fired pizzas, Stella’s in Austin serves riffs on Italian classics like their Summer Bruschetta that’s toasted crusty bread topped with cream cheese and spicy pineapple jam. I visit my friends at We Are Austin and share some of my favorites from this crowd-pleasing Italian restaurant, plus 3 must-try beer and wine finds. Watch the segment here!
My Wine Finds:
Hey Texas, have ya’ heard? It’s Hatch Chili season! Now you cannot only eat ‘em – you can drink ‘em, too! The Nine Band Brewing Hatch Me If You Can is made right here in the Lone Star State and is a refreshing Kolsch-Style Ale with a slight heat from the Hatch Chilis. $8 for a 6-pack
Next, is a tribute to a dear friend of mine, Bunny Becker: the Becker Vineyards Provencal Rosé. Bunny and her husband Dr. Richard Becker are pioneers in the Texas wine world and proved to the world that you can make wonderful wines here. Her legacy lives on in her wines. In this bottle you’ll taste strawberries and dried cherries with floral aromatics. $9
Last, is a pick for my red fans! The Reata Pinot Noir is a tri-county wine from California. The grapes come from Monterey, San Benito and Sonoma county and are blended together in this well-balanced bottle. This has a delightful texture as well as a strong structure with earthy notes and dark red fruits. $15
As always, thank you to our good friends at KEYE CBS Austin! You can find all of these wines at your local H-E-B or buy them online at HEB.com. Bonus: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles.
