This weekend on Goodtaste with Tanji, we meet a former actress-turned-baker who learned how to cook from the important women in her life. Then we visit an Austin restaurant whose legendary dish saved its business. Lastly, we get to know the couple behind a breakfast spot that trying to make the restaurant business more family-friendly. To tease your palate a little more, here are 3 things not to miss in this week’s new episode of Goodtaste with Tanji Season 4.
1. Star Baker
Former model, actor, journalist and television personality Elizabeth Chambers Hammer left her Hollywood career behind to pursue her true passion: baking. With the help of her Golden Globe-nominated husband, Armie Hammer, they created BIRD Bakery. Many of the dishes served at the bakery, like the pimento cheese and chicken salad, are recipes passed down from Chambers’ mom and grandma. Both women were local entrepreneurs in San Antonio – her grandmother had her own catering company and her mother owned a health food store.
2. Saved By Tacos

Diners from all over the state flock to Texas Honey Ham Company for the comfort food – especially the breakfast tacos. However, it wasn’t always like that. In their first year of business, owners Trent Hunt and Rob Siller learned the hard way that ham, and ham alone, wouldn’t be enough. In an attempt to get butts in seats they began giving away free taco cards all around town and soon business took off. Now lines run out the door for the unbelievable breakfast tacos made with slices of their caramelized honey ham.
3. A Family Affair

When Brock and Stacey Silverstein opened Pecan Creek Grille in Houston, they wanted to offer great food and a family-friendly workplace for their employees. The couple, who fell in love while working in restaurants together, close up shop at 2pm every day so every employee can be out in time to get their kids from school. Even the name is family-minded: Stacey’s family has owned a ranch called Pecan Acres since the 1940s.
