Now that the Texas winter is here, nothing warms your toes better than a big red wine. I’ve got a couple of fun finds for all you red wine fans — and white wine fans, I’ve got you covered, too!
Buried Cane Cabernet Sauvignon
First up, a Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington state called Buried Cane. Washington is known for its wonderful Cabernet values. They’re delicious wines that cost a heck of a lot less than wines from Napa. This Cabernet is well-balanced with dark cherries and just a hint of spice on the finish. I’ve been a longtime fan of this wine and the price, which is just $14 a bottle.
Clone 7 Oak Knoll Cabernet Sauvignon
Next, a find that a few of you big wine fans are going to be familiar with. The Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon is getting a lot of attention because the grapes in this one come from the famed Oak Knoll region in Napa. That spot is known for award-winning Cabernets. This wine has enticing aromas with black plums, raspberries and a bit of olive tapenade on the finish. It’s one great buy at about $25 a bottle.
Esprit de Saint-Sulpice Sauvignon Blanc
Alright, white wine fans — your turn! Let’s go to France for this beautiful Bordeaux Blanc by Esprit de Saint-Sulpice. It’s a Sauvignon Blanc and it’s blended with a bit of Sémillon, which gives it a little more body. It has beautiful aromas and you’re going to get some flavors of honeysuckle. It’s the perfect wine to pair with salads and it’s really good with seafood. It’s priced at just under $15 a bottle.
All fun finds and as always, I found all of my wines at H-E-B!
