What better way to melt in the easy, breezy days of summer than a quick trip up to the Hill Country? Lean back and take it all in at The Leaning Pear in Wimberley. Take in the views of Cypress Creek, “atop a natural bluff overlooking a lush creek meadow” in an “idyllic hill-country setting,” according to The Leaning Pear’s website. Sounds like our kind of place, and especially with entrees like the Sweet Tea-Brined Pork Chop with creamed corn and fennel escabeche, or one of their signature wood-fired pizzas like The Chivo, with goat cheese, zahatar, and grilled eggplant!

Austin

Jugo Austin’s bright and flavor-packed smoothies will make you feel cool and good on the inside! Austin Chef and Restaurateur Shawn Cirkiel, who’s behind Austin favorites like Parkside, Olive & June, and The Backspace, opened Jugo in March of this year as a healthy grab-and-go juice and smoothie destination in downtown Austin.
Sip on a fresh made juice (try the carrot, orange, garlic, lemon, and turmeric juice for an immune system boost!) or nosh on hearty dishes like the quinoa with sweet potatoes and cashews, which you can get the recipe for right here! Or give this blueberry, honey, yogurt, and apple smoothie a whirl for a boost of energy!
San Antonio
What goes with the end of summer? The start of tailgating season! Why not head to the “Home of the Original Buffalo Wing” at the Anchor Bar in San Antonio for one of the season’s best treats? We gave you a little “taste” of this restaurant newbie on San Antonio Living earlier this month, now you have to try it out for yourself!
Their “World Famous Wings” will wow you with sauces from mild to hot! Give the honey garlic sweet and sour or garlic parmesan a go, and when you do, pair it with a mouthwatering stack of hand-battered onion rings!
Houston
Big juicy burgers, slow-cooked St. Louis style ribs, crispy and savory Southern Fried Chicken, handspun milkshakes — is your mouth watering yet?! The Masraff family of restaurants, who you saw in our first season, just opened Maclane’s Cafe, and we couldn’t be more excited for them!
Experience Masraff’s flavor in a casual concept, where an ice cold draft beer and wines by the glass “certain to please the most discriminating palate” are perfectly paired with a bowl of Texas chili or a Philly Cheesesteak from the “Things I Crave” menu!
