It’s no secret we’re afforded some of the finest Mexican food one can find in Texas! Marvelous margaritas, sensational salsas, tempting tortilla plates, and queso we just can’t get enough of! When it comes to interior Mexican flavor, we’ve compiled our “must-haves” for a sensational summer meal below!
San Antonio
Summers are meant for sipping La Maestra Blanca Aldaco’s amazing margaritas on the patio of Aldaco’s in San Antonio! You’ll fall in love with Blanca’s interior Mexican plates like The Centerpiece [above] with grilled zucchini, fresh avocado, and summer-ripe tomatoes — made with amor y sabor! Her world-famous Pastel Tres Leches – the “IT” Three Milk Cake will cool you off on a hot Texas night– and if you can’t make the trip!
See why we’ve fallen in love with her recipes again and again here.
Austin
Tuck inside from the heat at Fonda San Miguel in Austin for one of the best tequila tastings in Texas! The fresh flavors of Mexico are heightened in a lively ambiance that’s brought people back for more than 40 years. The late Chef Miguel Ravago has shared some of amazing recipes with us over the years, from the Enchiladas Verdes, the Ceviche Veracruzano [above], and the Cochinita Pibil.
Watch why we’ll always be enamorado with Fonda San Miguel here.
Houston
Hugo’s in Houston always makes us happy — especially at happy hour when we’re craving a world class margarita! Get happy, too, during their happy hours Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Or, stop in for Hugo’s Sunday Brunch buffet if you’re really serious! James Beard Award-winning Chef Hugo Ortega serves up some of the finest Chile Rellenos on the planet, but if you’re not in town, you can make them at home. Don’t forget to pair it with the Hugo Rita for extra effect!
Bonus: the Pirámide de Chocolate. Does this picture say enough?!
