It’s EPISODE 6–who’s hungry! An all-new Goodtaste with Tanji airs this weekend, May 14-15, in select markets. Tune in live or set your DVR–three very diverse destinations coming right up!
VOX TABLE
Culinary masterpieces from one of South Austin’s most innovative kitchens! VOX Table is an eclectic spot for small plates; a fusion of French, Spanish, Basque and American flavors from Executive Chef Joe Anguiano in a cool yet casual setting. Here you’re encouraged to sample, swap and share for a better appreciation of the menu’s diversity.
Conquer clever creations like this Smoked Hamachi Pipette…seafood you suck through a straw! This show-stopping starter features tomato raisins, pickled cucumber, thai chili and a coconut soy vinaigrette:
And, it’s not just about delicious plates – handcrafted cocktails share the spotlight as well. Quirky concoctions from “Money See, Monkey Do” to “Herb is the Word” and the “Irish Goodbye”on draft. There’s a new one you must ache about. The “Tom Selleck’s Mustache” that is. Rest assured, there’s a story behind the name. 😉
OTTO’S GERMAN BISTRO
There’s a charming European style bistro right up the road in the Texas Hill Country, run by a pair of food loving millennials. Husband and wife team John and Evelyn Washburne traded in big city life for a change of pace in small town Fredericksburg, where they opened Otto’s. This local gem pays homage to the area’s German roots with a modern mix of farm fresh menu items featuring both local and organic produce.
Chef Adam Yoho’s savory flatbread, the Flammkuchen, is a hit with patrons, as is Chef’s Duck Schnitzel [above], a seasonal entrée made with hand-breaded duck breast.
EL REAL TEX-MEX CAFE
Taste everything under the taco sun at El Real. This happening haven for authentic Tex-Mex is housed inside the old historic Montrose Theater, first opened in 1938! There’s so much history within these walls! Today, the marquee out front boasts “Houston’s Best Vintage Tex-Mex” and that’s all we need to know!
Here, the cheese enchiladas with chili con carne take center stage, as do the sizzling fajitas and San Antonio Puffy Tacos- inspired by Henry’s Puffy Tacos from the Alamo City.
Plus…
We’re taking a quick trip overseas to Italy, where some of the sexiest, most romantic wines on the planet hail from!
