Hard to believe but…it’s holiday season! I got with Ralph my Wine Guy at the H-E-B Plus on Blanco & 1604 for his go-to wines no matter what’s being served at your table. Sometimes it’s hard to know which bottles are your best best on Thanksgiving. Here’s our suggestions…
For a dryer white that isn’t heavily oaked, try the Gloria Ferrer Chardonnay out of Carneros in Sonoma County. It’s a fruit forward white with flavors of apple, pear and lemon – plus hints of oak on the finish. Some nice citrus notes too!
A superb ‘suitor’ for turkey or a seafood substitute such as sea bass, smoked salmon or seared scallops. Around $18.
This Pluto’s Fury Pinot Noir designates a particular vineyard from the Geyser Peak Winery in the Russian River Valley. The 2013 vintage has a nice cherry/strawberry flavor with earthy notes. It’s a very nice fit for your turkey or something like mushroom risotto or pork tenderloin. Around $20.
A sweeter style to go along with turkey may just be the Wente Vineyards’ Estate Grown Riesling. For $11, it’s a sure bet with any turkey or spicy cranberries. Baked ham as well.
Now is really the time to stock pile for the holidays. A nice bottle of wine always makes for a thoughtful gift! 😉 Buy six or more bottles for a special discount. Watch the video above for more details!
