It’s the time of year foodie fanatics anticipate all year long – a glorious five weeks of dining delights across the city at an amazing price. Plus, a big chunk of the change goes to a very worthy cause—The Houston Food Bank. It’s a win-win all around.

For the next few weeks here in this column, I thought I’d recommend some of my favorite spots, restaurants that are offering incredible menu items for the menu price. Not all RW menus are created equally. I always like to check the menu before I commit because some restaurants truly shine and put their best food forward during this exciting month. BTW, the restaurants are listed in alphabetical order. Many are offering lunch and dinner options. I’m focusing on dinner choices here.
Amalfi – 6100 Westheimer Road
Italian lovers know this restaurant very well. Amalfi opened less than a year ago to rave reviews, including one from yours truly. Chef Giancarlo Ferrara’s beautiful seafood dishes continue to dazzle. Carnivores, there are choices for you on the menu as well. You can more from my first visit right here. And, check out their menu for Restaurant Weeks here.
Bistro Menil – 1513 W. Alabama Street
What’s not to love about this sophisticated yet relaxed restaurant! The dining room is awash in sunlight streaming in from the multiple windows, very appealing with Bistro Menil’s white on white décor. But, it’s the wonderfully executed menu from Chef Greg Martin that truly makes this spot shine. You can see more of my visit to Bistro Menil and check out their menu for RW here.
Harwood Grill – 2300 Westheimer Road
The new Harwood Grill may be one of the top five menu values of all the restaurants participating. At $45 per person you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy the famous HeartBrand Akaushi ribeye, a Japanese beef raised in Harwood, Texas that grades approximately four times higher than Prime and is heart healthy. (Studies at A&M and Washington State University confirm). BTW, their incredible Sage Dusted Calamari is also on their RW menu as well as a scrumptious chocolate and peanut butter pie! You can see more on Harwood Grill and see their menu for RW here.
Masraff’s – 1753 Post Oak Boulevard
Masraff’s is known for holding nothing back during Restaurant Weeks. Year to year their Uptown RW menu consistently exceeds expectations! And, talk about a stunning accomplishment, for two years in a row, Masraff’s has raised the second highest amount of donations for the Food Bank –the winner, Del Frisco’s, is a much larger restaurant with a national presence. And Masraff’s fans, their famous Garlic Seared Calamari is on the RW menu along with FIVE major entrée choices! To see their RW menu head here.
Next week, I’ll have more awesome choices for your exciting weeks of dining out! Meantime, head to Goodtaste.tv for a chance to win a fabulous stay at the beautiful Houstonian Hotel.
