More options for one of my favorite summer varietals are in at the H-E-B Montrose Market. One of the biggest misconceptions I hear about rosés is that they’re all too sweet. Not true! For red fans who want a smooth transition to white – reach for rosé!
When shopping for that perfect bottle, look for a more current vintage. For these particular wines, the fresher the better. All three of our selections this month are from the south of France with a 2014 vintage.
Rosés are generally VERY inexpensive and truly make the perfect summer wine:
1) The Augey Rosé from Bordeaux is amazing: dry, full-bodied and heavy on the strawberries. Splendid for summer at 80% Cab Franc, 20% Merlot.
2) Le Charmel’s Rosé is a darker, crisper offering out of Provence that retails at just $11.98! You can always tell a Provence rosé from its beautiful salmon color… 😉
3) The Miraval Rosé is our third pick – a classic French rosé that’s become so popular, even the Chinese have counterfeited it! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are also partners with the winemaker.
