Grilling season is a go in H-town – rainy weather notwithstanding! Some of the city’s top stars when it comes to BBQ shared their best sellers this morning on KPRC.
One of the classics, Demeris Bar-B-Q, is celebrating 50 years. Since 1964, the Demeris family has been serving Houstonians their authentic, mouth-watering barbecue!
On Saturdays, their lip-smacking pork ribs are $15.95 for All-You-Can-Eat + two sides!!
Demeris’ Baby Back Ribs are smoked with hickory wood – slow smoked for 5 hours – until nice and tender. Their famous “Second Generation Bbq Sauce” is served with the ribs…a sweet, spicy, tangy sauce that also works perfectly with pulled pork or chicken.
Goodtaste lucked out with the recipe for Demeris’ wildly popular Jalapeño Corn…
Serves 10 people
- Sweet corn 3.5 lbs canned, drained
- Cream cheese 1 lb
- Margarine 2 2/3 oz
- Red bell pepper 1/3 c –Chopped, canned, drained
- Fresh jalapeno 1 2/3 cup
Combine all ingredients and mix well together. Serve hot, or cold as dip.
A superb wine pairing with any BBQ is Zinfandel, in this case, the Cigar Zin. This is a rich, fruity zin with some nice spice and balanced tannins for less than $15 a bottle!
We stepped things up a notch for steak fans with the all-new Harwood Grill. Located on Westheimer, just a block off of Kirby, it’s the ONLY restaurant in town that serves all Akaushi all the time. Akaushi is certified heart healthy and incredibly delicious! It has a rich, buttery texture that practically melts in your mouth…
Head on over to the restaurant and enjoy the great food, or take the steaks to-go. Harwood has a very cool meat counter, where you can choose which cut to take home and get helpful tips on cooking the Akaushi from Chef Bianco himself!
Our wine pairing here is the Beringer Knights Valley Reserve – a lush, velvety Cabernet Sauvignon recommended by my wine guy, Sean Ballesteros, at the H-E-B Bunker Hill.
Big Horn BBQ in Pearland is big on catering…just look at this ginormous group platter below. What a show piece!
Big Horn does live music on the weekends, and 99¢ domestic long necks all weekend during football season. Their drive-thru also racks up a ton of business. It’s a great spot to swoop in, pick up a family meal with all the fixin’s and be on your way!
