In Texas, barbecue and wine are a match…trust us on that! Our top picks for local BBQ in San Antonio come paired with inexpensive vinos that accentuate that smoky, juicy flavor we all know so well!
Speaking of ‘smoky,’ Chef Brian West just opened his passion project on the city’s northside…Smoke. This is elevated barbecue – aka all your favorites like brisket, sausage and beer brined turkey taken to the next level. Smoke is a sit-down diner with table service, a full bar and all kinds of exotic goodies like Dr. Pepper Pork Ribs or Fried Catfish to appease that adventurous appetite of yours. They’re even open for Sunday brunch!
Pairing: Cigar Zin (big, fruity Zinfandel)
Next up, fan favorite Rudy’s BBQ. Incredible brisket, smoked turkey and sausage yes, but I’m particularly fond of their famous creamed corn. Rudy’s has always been big on giving back to the community, and right now you can purchase a limited edition Honor Cup with .75 cents of every cup donated back to our troops!
Pairing: Esteio Vinho Verde (light, effervescent) – only $6 at H-E-B!
No doubt about it, Bolner’s Meat Market is among the best of its kind in Texas! Here we brought bacon-wrapped shrimp stuffed with jalapeño, as well as heart-healthy Akaushi. Lest we forget the FANTASTIC seasonings from Bolner’s that I use on just about everything… 😉
Pairing: Yellow Tail Shiraz (big, fruity)
