Pop the cork and let the party begin on New Year’s Eve. Right now, cash in on a killer wine sale to close out the year. Take 10% off nearly ALL Cabernets and Sparklings currently on shelves at your local H-E-B! Stores across the state are participating in the big New Year’s sale.
We have several recommendations below for bubbly with big taste to ring in 2015. This includes the popular Anna de Codorníu Brut Cava [above] for an especially low price. Cavas hail from Spain and are produced using the same method the French use to make champagne, but they are FAR less expensive!
Sparklings-
Anna de Codorníu Brut – under $10; Fresh & fruity, this popular and bubbly brut rated 88 from Wine Spectator. Serve with every course – from veggies and seafood to grilled meats and desserts!
JCB#21 – $19; Rich, crisp and bracing, the JCB #21 also has the tiniest bit of luminous creaminess. A “90” by Wine Enthusiast.
Italian Proseccos are always a good choice, an easy crowd pleaser. One of my very favorites is Enza [right] at less than $18 a bottle, it’s a super buy! The Enza Rosé is also lovely, dry with a beautiful burst of strawberries.
Stivali Prosecco – A semi dry Prosecco out of Italy. Try pairing with mature, hard cheese or shell fish. Less than $15.
Sparkling Rosé fans, don’t miss the American Sparkling – Domaine Carneros by Taittinger Brut Rose NV [left]. I keep a few bottles of this on hand when I’m in the mood to celebrate something special.
This is the perfect rose, dry and elegant, that goes great with any celebration at about $35.
