Allow us to reintroduce the West Coast King of Crafts. Since production began in 1996, Stone Brewing Co. has made more than 1 million barrels of beer — that’s more than 33 million gallons thus far, with production increasing every year!
Just recently the San Diego-based brewery tapped Richmond, Virginia as the future home for a new brewery and restaurant location by late 2015 (or early 2016). For now, settle on something seasonal from Beer Advocate’s #1 “All Time Top Brewery on Planet Earth”…
Stone’s Coffee Milk Stout [above] is actually brewed with roasted coffee beans from San Diego roaster Ryan Bros Coffee; a rich, bittersweet and (most assuredly) creamy take on traditional English Milk Stout that’s smooth and made for easy-drinking, thanks to the addition of milk sugar.
The Coffee Milk Stout pairs with an eclectic array of holiday offerings from chocolate to lamb, soups, sauces, as well as a variety of charred, smoked, grilled and roasted items. We recommend roasted chestnuts, prime rib or tiramisu as the perfect mate for this malty beer.
As for our other seasonal selection, the Stone Smoked Porter with Chocolate & Orange Peel is a must-do brew:
Here’s to a warming creation well-suited for winter. Enhanced with seasonally driven ingredients, this particular variant incorporates dark chocolate and dried orange peel, making for a semisweet, citrus-nuanced porter that comes across like a break-apart chocolate orange…YUM!
We’re thinking the Smoked Porter is a beer best enjoyed by the fire, when temps in Texas truly begin to drop. For pairings, it’s s shoe-in for beef stew or homemade pecan pie. Happy holidays everyone!
