You gotta love living in Texas! There is a rodeo almost every single weekend at Tejas Steakhouse & Saloon, just north of 1604, not to mention the best steak in all of Texas! That’s according to Texas Monthly and thanks in large part to the brand — HeartBrand Akaushi.
The scenery is incredible. From the moment you step foot inside, you are instantly transported back to the Old West! A large number of historic artifacts line the walls — many of which are family heirlooms, and priceless. Chef Tyler Horstmann is still amazed each time he comes to work. He has good reason to be! Over and above grounds with the capacity for up to one thousand people (think weddings, private rodeos, birthdays…take your pick!), is the food that’s still the main attraction around these parts.
Akaushi beef from the Beeman Family Ranch is not only some of the best tasting beef you’ll find (it’s juicy, tender and tastes like butter), it’s also heart-healthy. Great flavoring, marbling and the texture is second to none. Also add in a positive ratio of monounsatured to saturated fatty acid and you have the recipe to what has become my favorite piece of meat– period!
Tejas is a special destination where the Akaushi is cooked ‘KC Style,’ seared in a cast iron pan. It’s the cowboy way to cook a steak, and something I’ve honestly never seen until now. While beef reigns supreme here, the side dishes are not to be overlooked. Famous mac & cheese, award-winning green beans and some seriously good sweet potato fries. Come for the grub and stay for a show — it doesn’t get any better than that!
