There are so many gems in the Texas Hill Country…Camp Verde near Comfort is certainly one of them. This historical site dates back to 1857 and still operates as an active post office! From the sprawling green meadows to a one-of-a-kind General Store, and now their new restaurant, dishing up more than just hearty sandwiches and bags of chips like back in the day. An expanded menu includes comfort favorites like pork chops, chop steak and one killer meatloaf served with a mound of mashed potatoes and country greens — this thing is HUGE! Their fried pickles are also a guilty pleasure of mine…delicious with creamy ranch dressing! And for dessert, find your fill at their homemade gelato bar. There’s something for everyone here…great shopping, amazing eats and a whole stretch of land to explore. It’s the true Texan experience!
