Pull up a chair and get comfortable at the award-winning Branch Water Tavern in H-town. It’s a great place to spread out and kill some time hanging out with friends…and the oysters…WOW! Around the holidays, they’re a tradition; put oysters in stuffing or eat them raw. Speaking of which, the new ‘raw bar’ at Branch Water does not disappoint!
The highlight, of course, are the fresh Gulf oysters that are in season. Buttery, rich and slightly bigger than others that hail from different parts of the country. Because water temperatures right now are lower, the oysters store more fat and thus are saltier, more plump and more firm. In other words, just right for feasting on!
Watch the video to see Chef David Grossman teach me what to look for to ensure that the oysters you’re served are fresh. In addition we cover the proper technique for how to open them. I had a lot of fun! For more delicious recipes and fun food and wine pairing ideas, subscribe to my newsletter.
