Welcome to the most spectacular patio in the city…Paesanos 1604. Come for the incredible food and stay for the unbeatable ambiance (live music every Friday night, for example). Chef Clark McDaniel and his culinary crew have recently revealed a new Spring menu packed with temperate eats like their luscious oak-grilled salmon [shown above] with leek mashed potatoes, drizzled in a refreshing raspberry vinaigrette. Simply marvelous.
Other items I had my eye on were the cold lump crab salad made with Farm To Market tomatoes from Marfa, TX! It’s layered in a smoked tomato ranch dressing that’s made from scratch…what a topping! Believe it or not, Chef McDaniel’s “creamless” creamy tomato soup receives a ton of attention this time of year. There’s literally “zero” cream in the ingredients, but you wouldn’t know it from the taste!
Fun in the sun continues with braised lamb cannelloni and pan-roasted sea bass complete with “black magic” Brussels sprouts (dressed in balsamic vinegar & real Texas honey!)…both are winners. Lest I forget Clark’s famous muffalatta pizza is also back! Spicy capiccola, proscuitto…Applewood bacon. Don’t even get me started!
