Oh yes…change is in the air at the popular Uptown wine bar The Tasting Room. Sounds like it’s going to be a good thing. For starters, weekend brunch starts Saturday!
I got a tweet from the new chef of cuisine at the popular wine bar, Steve Marques, that a new menu is in the works as well.
Steve and I first met when he was one of the founding partners of the Burger Guys …the awesome hamburger place that features gourmet burgers with Heartbrand Akaushi beef .
I stopped by to see him at the Tasting Room this week and heard about the new line up. Steve says the new menu will have a somewhat Mediterranean flare with a contemporary edge. (Steve trained under a Provencal chef in London.)
You’ll be able to get a club sandwich at lunch but with salmon not turkey. That traditional nicoise salad will feature a tuna steak not canned tuna.
The new weekend brunch menu deviates somewhat from the Mediterranean fare but will still focus on locally sourced products. And, some of the menu items sound like just the kinda food you crave on a lazy Saturday. Ever tried Red Neck Eggs Benedict? It’s a frito pie with fried eggs! Or, if that’s not to your liking, there’s a Red Velvet Waffle with Chicken Wings.
Also, the Uptown wine bar will feature wine dinners on a regular basis.
You might give them a few weeks to get all the bells and whistles in place for the entire menu swap. When you stop by, let me know what you think.
BTW, The Tasting Room’s Annual Grand Tasting Experience is Saturday, October 22 from 1-5p. A portion of the proceeds is said to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
