Tiny Pies in Austin is known for their mini creations of big-sliced desserts. You name it, they can make it bite size! For July 4th, Tiny Pies has shared their American Flag Berry Pie recipe with us. Say "Happy birthday, America!" with these delicious desserts.

Ingredients

  • Store-bought pie dough needed

Blueberry filling:
  • 1 1/2 C  fresh blueberries
  • 1 T  lemon juice
  • 3 T  sugar, dash of cloves, dash of ginger
  • 1 T  cornstarch 
Toss blueberries with lemon juice. In separate bowl, whisk together sugar, spices and cornstarch. Combine sugar mixture with blueberries. 

Strawberry Rhubarb filling: 
  • 2 C  strawberries
  • 2 C  rhubarb

Juice from 1/2 of an orange:
  • 1/2 C  sugar
  • 1 t  cinnamon
  • 1 t  ginger
  • 1/4 t  nutmeg
  • 3 T  cornstarch

Recipe Info

  1. Combine strawberries, rhubarb, and orange juice. In separate bowl, whisk together sugar, spices and cornstarch and combine with fruit.

  2. Place the store-bought dough in 9 " pie pan. Add blueberry filling to left corner of pie and then add strawberry filling. Cut stars out of additional store-bought dough using star cookie cutter and cut free hand wavy stripes out of cut pie crust. Add stars on top of blueberry filling, add stripes on top of strawberry filling. 

  3. Bake pie in the oven on 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
