Los Barrios sangria
Ingredients
- 2 qt Red wine
- 2 c Lemon-lime soda
- 2 c Orange juice
- 1 1/4 c Lime juice
- 2 c Sugar
- 2 c Applesauce
- 1 Orange, thinly sliced, each slice cut in half
- 1 Lime, thinly sliced, each slice cut in half
- 1 Red Delicious apple, peeled, cored and sliced into thin rounds
This is a wonderful, refreshing drink for our hot San Antonio summers… an interesting twist on an old favorite by a beloved San Antonio family.
Combine the red wine, soda, orange juice, lime juice, sugar and applesauce in a large pitcher, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Add the orange, lime and apple. Refrigerate until well chilled. Serve in tall glasses with fruit in each serving. Makes 1 1/2 gallons.

At what point does one add the lime juice? I assume with the other juice, but it is not included in the directions. Just curious – does anyone proofread these before putting them on the web?
I like either the Yellow Tail Shiraz for the Sangria, but the Cabernet would work too. And yes, lime juice goes in with other juices.
Enjoy!
Hey, what KIND of the Yellowtail “Red Wine” do you use? Thanks, and happy Fiesta!
On the SA Living show, Tanji added Rose wine also and recipe was a little different.
Can I have that one?
