I just discovered these delicious lemon treats at the delightful Inn at Occidental in Sonoma. We love staying there when visiting the wine country. It’s only about 8 miles from the coast and is nestled in the scenic rolling Sonoma Hills. The breakfasts here are amazing! These lemon bars just happened to be on the buffet. I had to get the recipe to share with you! Enjoy.

Method:
Cream together the butter and sugar. Grate the rind of the lemon and add to creamed mixture. Add all the rest of the ingredients except the powdered sugar and lemon. Grease one large loaf pan or two small loaf pans. Pour in the batter and bake.
Squeeze out all the juice from the lemon and combine with ¼ c powdered sugar. Mix well and pour over the loaf when it comes out of the oven. Allow the syrup to sink in, and then turn the loaf out onto a rack to cool. Note: Add 1 Tbsp of poppy seeds if desired.
Bake at 350º for 1 hour.
