Goodtaste Starts Here
Tanji is an Emmy award winning journalist pursuing her passion for wine and food. Tanji explores the inviting worlds of chefs, wine makers and culinary newsmakers. Her snappy, fun videos entice even the most novice of chefs to get into the kitchen and create…with a glass of wine nearby, of course.
Hundreds of thousands view her Goodtaste content via a wide range of media. In addition to producing Goodtaste.tv, Tanji features food and wine segments on KPRC TV, the NBC affiliate in Houston and KTRK TV (ABC) as well as Great Day Houston on KHOU TV, a CBS affiliate. Her segments can also be seen on the Living Show on WOAI TV, the NBC affiliate in San Antonio and KABB TV, Fox. She blogs for the Houston Chronicle’s Chron.com. and San Antonio Express News’ MySA.com. and YourHoustonNews.com. She also writes a weekly column for the Houston Community Newspapers.
In creating content for Goodtaste.tv, Tanji works with top chefs from all over the world. Lidia Bastianich has actually cooked in Tanji’s kitchen! Tanji’s husband Mike is her partner in Goodtaste, and their exploration of wines leads them to wine regions all over the world.
Tanji has worked as an investigative reporter, news anchor, producer and host. Many of her investigative reports earned statewide and national interest and acclaim. Her indepth coverage of such issues as racial discrimination in the child adoption process led to changes in Texas state law.
After the 9/11 attacks, Tanji reported from the Pentagon. Once the war in Afghanistan started, she reported from the USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Arabian Sea.
On a lighter note, Tanji was the original host and executive producer of a local lifestyle show called San Antonio Living, from 1997 to 2002. Her hosting expertise got national exposure when she co-hosted Live with Regis twice in 2000 during the nationwide search for a co-host. For more than 5 years, Tanji worked with chefs from all over the country to present their dishes to her audiences.
Tanji and her husband Mike visit vineyards all over the world (seen here with Rob and Lydia Mondavi) to pursue their interest in wine. They’ve taken a number of wine classes including the prestigious Wine Spirit and Education Trust of London’s intermediate course obtaining the WSET Level 2 certification. Tanji has also taken a number of the culinary courses at the Culinary Institute of America’s campus in San Antonio.
Tanji is also a member of prestigious Les Dames d’Escoffier, the International Chaine des Rotisseurs, a Chef Rotisseur, and a past board member of Culinaria – the San Antonio wine and food festival. She also serves on the advisory board of the Bexar County Family Justice Center.
Tanji is a recipient of the Texas Tech University College of Mass Communications Distinguished Alumni award. She received a B.A. in journalism from the University while working as a reporter and anchor at the local affiliate KLBK TV.
