A ladies’ lunch with a culinary legend! This September, the San Antonio chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier will host its second Plate Changer Luncheon, this year honoring special guest and outspoken culinary icon, Diana Kennedy.
At 93 years young, Chef Kennedy still cooks with a passion. 🙂 She’s a celebrated authority on Mexican cuisine – arguably the authority  – and rarely makes public appearances these days, so this is a real treat!
In 1972 she released her first of nine books, The Cuisines of Mexico, which began a shift in how Americans view (and now embrace) Mexico’s wide range of foods.
The upcoming luncheon helps fund Les Dames’ Aspirations Grant Program, which provides grants to women in the San Antonio area who have proven to be innovators within their culinary-related field. It’s also for those who aspire to give back to the community.
This year’s luncheon, and Chef Kennedy’s keynote speech, are in effort to bring attention to plate-changing efforts focused on kitchen waste, recycling and sustainability.
