Before I tell you about a wonderful wine and food event coming up, I want to remind you to set your DVRs for our new wonderful wine and food show, Goodtaste with Tanji, that will premiere Sunday, April 10, at 5:30am on KPRC TV. Wake up early with us or, simply set your time machine. 🙂
Okay, on to the event. There are a ton of fun food and wine events to choose from in a city as diverse as Houston, but one of my favorites happens in early April–the 13th Annual Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair (SLWFA) the week of April 6-10!
It’s obviously a very popular event–last year more than 10,000 people descended upon the town for this five day foodie fantasia. SLWFA features hundreds of top tier wines, handcrafted spirits, as well as dozens of local chefs and culinary stars!
If you’ve been before, no doubt you remember H-E-B’s awesome giant wine and cheese venue. H-E-B is a sponsor once again, so prepare for yet another colossal cheese display and some wonderful wines to taste:
New options for this year include a bourbon and artisan cheese pairing (For the Love of Bourbon & Cheese), a pop-up butcher shop, multiple Big Green Egg demonstrations (grill fans, anyone) and a special tasting and discussion opportunity with nationally renowned Master Sommelier Tim Gaiser.
A 3-Day VIP Pass is really the way to go–both for the reduced price and what all you get access to! Specifically three of the Affair’s most popular events: Friday evening’s Grand Tasting, the Sip & Stroll at Imperial Saturday afternoon and Bistro Brunch on Sunday in the Sugar Land Town Square.
The Grand Tasting is just that – a grand event, held in the ballroom of the Sugar Land Marriott. Chefs from all over the city are cooking up some delicious bites. The Grand Auction, also part of the Tasting, will give you the chance to bid on exclusive items (fine wines, romantic getaways and one-of-a-kind collectibles).
Spend the remainder of your time taking in the various cooking demos, tasting sessions, seminars, live entertainment, beer garden and wine that seems to replenish itself! Go ahead–get uncorked!
