Terrific tips to spice up your next holiday gathering on We Are Austin! Let’s start with just how much beer, wine and/or liquor you plan on providing. For a two hour party, a general rule of thumb is as follows:
The average person will drink 2 drinks the first hour and 1 drink the second hour. So, when planning for how much booze to buy, think in terms of 3 drinks per person for beer & liquor, or 1 bottle of wine per two people.
It’s your time to play mixologist – just remember to keep plenty of water handy! This cuts down on the amount of alcohol folks will consume anyway…a good idea regardless. 🙂
An easy Italian cocktail that I’ve found to be popular is made Villa Massa Limoncello (a sweet liqueur w/ burst of lemon) and common mixers like tonic water or Prosecco (I like Enza). If you ask me, the Limoncello is just as refreshing by itself!
The best-selling liqueur out of Spain is a brand called Cuarenta y Tres (“43”), which traces its roots back to Cartagenia some 2,000 years ago! Various indigenous fruits and herbs are used in the making of it. Enjoy the ‘perks’ of this vanilla drink in a glass with espresso and a dash of cream. A sure hit for the holidays!
