So, which pinot noir is perfect for you? Join us on a tasty trip around the globe as we sample several popular pinots you can find right here in the Lone Star State!
Not all pinot noirs are created equal. There are varying flavor profiles, depending on the region the grapes are sourced from. Our beautiful spread begins in France – Burgundy to be precise – where pinot noir originates from. Burgundy put pinots on the map with some of the finest in the world! They’re earthy and layered…and you won’t find a good one for under $50. That’s the truth!
A New Zealand pinot I like is The Crossings Pinot Noir – a fruit forward, sweeter pinot than the French with delicate tannins and spices. It’s also less than $20!
A to Z’s out of Oregon is similar in style to the Burgundy but with a little more ‘finesse.’ 😉 You’ll notice the higher acidity and a heavy cherry flavor on this one. Again, a less expensive alternative to those from France.
Pinot noirs are incredibly versatile and pair with almost anything…poultry, meat, fish…that’s one of the big attractions! Josh Cellars’ sources only premium grapes from California to produce their plush pinot noir with dark fruits at less than $15/bottle.
