The end is in sight! ‘Wine down’ summer with Ralph my “Wine Guy,” who’s back with some fun wines you should keep an eye out for at your local H-E-B. There are some good choices among reds or whites — it all depends on what you fancy!
The Rare White Grape 4 Blend is a refreshing, fruity white that combines Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscato. It’s richly flavored, medium-bodied and superb with seafood. Or by itself! I’d say this is a nice California porch wine for under $8 at H-E-B — a steal!
Siduri is a Sonoma County winery known for their Pinot Noirs. This Pinot is medium-bodied as well. You’ll taste the concentrated fruit on this red, black cherry especially, with earthy notes. It’s a swell fit for chicken marsala at just under $20. Fun fact: The couple behind Siduri met at a Neiman Marcus of all places in Dallas!
Our final selection for August is Novy from the Russian River Valley AVA. Theirs is a fruit-forward Zinfandel with some nice spice on the finish. Cranberry, raspberry and black cherry flavors are all prominent here. Ralph recommends pairing with a pepper steak or pork chops. I’m thinking BBQ period! Also just under $20 at H-E-B.
As always, remember H-E-B’s friendly 10% discount on your total purchase when you buy 6 or more bottles…that’s any bottle (sparklings, 1.5 liters and sale items included!). Try saying no to that deal… 😉
