Get a load of this: From now until December 31st, La Fonda Alamo Heights is combining two holiday traditions under one husk…tamales and black-eyed peas! The beloved Mexican eatery is offering Black-Eyed Pea Tamales in addition to the usual Pork, Chicken and Beef varieties.
According to owner Hans White, you are supposed to eat black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day for good luck throughout the coming year!
These homemade tamales are available to be ordered by the dozen and come ready to steam and serve at your next holiday gathering. Switch up the usual finger food fare this year! If you want to make a homemade version of these black-eyed delights, check out this delicious recipe from my dear friend Rosie Benner. OR, here’s another choice from Saveur click here…
La Fonda Alamo Heights is located at 6402 N. New Braunfels, in the Sunset Ridge Shopping Center.
Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-10 p.m. Happy Hour specials throughout the restaurant Sunday-Thursday 5-7 p.m.
