No trip to Napa would be complete without stopping here…that’s for sure! The Robert Mondavi Winery, located just off Highway 29, is home to happy faces and lots of history. Sitting down with Inger Shiffler, the resident Senior Wine Educator, I was treated to two of their must-haves as far as vinos go: their Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, the latter of which Mr. Mondavi personally dubbed the Fumé Blanc [shown right], in order to differentiate his signature dry style from the sweet styles of the 1960′s. It’s the perfect porch wine.
Speaking of the 60′s, the winery opened its doors in 1966 and has been hosting a renowned Summer concert series since 1969. Fabulous art shows also occur in the Vineyard Room – just one of the many festive, visitor experiences you can expect to encounter on this sprawling stretch of land in Wine Country. The moment you step foot through its iconic entrance, a spectacular experience is just waiting to occur. After all, the Mondavi family got wine going in Napa!
