The Absolute Last Perfect Food in the World Is…
Honey! You may never think of this supersaturated liquid the same way again. Yep…that’s me all suited up! Recently, I braved the bees and had a blast at Zelko Bistro in the Heights. Here, jars of honey fly off the shelves, and I learned more about partners Jaime and Dalia Zelko’s bee project; a ‘buzzworthy’ undertaking affecting all of Houston and well beyond!
Globally, we’re losing bees. In the United States alone, more than a quarter of the bee population is gone! That loss has a tremendous impact on farmers and nature alike. So, think of these gals as being on a constant rescue mission: they take in bees that are set to be exterminated and place them in a hive to naturally flourish. The Heights Honey Bee Project is something both ladies have been working on for over two years now. Untapped, and never handled by humans, the honey nectar that bees produce contains high levels of antioxidants that help with blood flow, as well as regulation of our circulatory system. Great taste and even greater health benefits are a win/win in my book!
