If you love the taste of great food and cooking is your thing, why not take advantage of an opportunity to hone your skills? Playing dress-up in the kitchen can be just as much fun as dining out!

The San Antonio campus of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is a fascinating place to learn more, experience new things culinary and meet some great folks in the process. I recently signed up for a week-long Bistro Boot Camp after hearing rave reviews on the classes from friends. I had a blast! There are no grades involved, only self-evaluations and plenty of encouragement from your team. In fact, the CIA welcomes whatever experience you have to build on. Chefs from all walks of life come from around the world to train…you can always improve on something!

French Marinated Tomatoes CIAClassic French omelets, fresh scones, bistro-style sandwiches, salads, tarts and some exquisite Pickled Cherry Tomatoes all came out of my week as a hard-working student. I can’t complain! For more delicious recipes and fun food and wine pairing ideas, subscribe to my newsletter.
