Light & lovely winter wines
Love the cold weather to start the New Year (at least it’s cold to us). H-E-B has you covered with these light-bodied vinos that are perfect for sipping and soaking it all in! Up first is a Milbrandt chardonnay that’s particularly fruity, with hints of apple, pear and tropical melon blended against a backdrop of buttery vanilla…try pairing it with chicken or seafood.
Then there’s the Simple Life – how great of a name is that?! And it’s no wonder because this wine is super versatile…duck, pork, ham, turkey, even salmon are all good pairings with this Pinot Noir. You’ll taste cherry, plum and just a tinge of strawberry. It’s a treat!
First Timer is the last of our picks and is offered by Chain Gang Vineyards. They always have such fun presentations with their bottles. Blackberry, plum and little bit of added spice make this DC Flynt wine a match for peppered steak or perhaps a hearty pasta with red marinara sauce.
Also, while you’re here, be sure and sign up for my newsletter.
Cheers – and Happy New Year!

Can maple syrup be replaced by honey in the Orange Cream French Toast recipe?
It will change the texture slightly but it should be ok. I would add about half the amount, taste and then adjust from there.
