Fireman’s # 4 Blonde Ale
They’ve finally made a believer out of me! For the past few years my beer drinking friends have tried to convince me that beer can pair with food just as well as wine. One even went so far as to send me a book called He Said BEER She Said Wine, which I must admit I read from cover to cover.
It’s true…many beers pair beautifully with food. And, like wines, the experimentation of all part of the fun. So, you’re going to be seeing more info here on craft beers and fun ways to not only pair them with food but also cook with them.
Real Ale Brewing Company’s own, Fireman’s #4 Blonde Ale as our inaugural “Beer of the Month” selection for August 2011 here on Goodtaste! Real Ale, which is located in Blanco, TX, has been a staple in the local brewing community of Texas since their doors first opened back in 1996. The staff there are just so friendly and the Fireman’s 4 really embodies the jovial spirit of those who call it home.
The beer itself is a strikingly rich, sunshine gold and acts as a definite refresher for those hot, muggy days. Actually, it’s perfect year round! It has a light body, and a malted, fruity aftertaste, with a hint of honey, that resonates long after its consumed.
The best part is you can pair it with any number of dishes, including mussels like these…and I’ve got a recipe.
