ANYTIME is the perfect time to enjoy crab cakes. And, Houston has a great selection of delicious crab cakes, each with their own unique twist. I prefer a ‘meaty’ crab cake with very little filler. The crab should be the star! Here are a few of my favorites:
Morton’s Crab Cakes are incredible! The jumbo lumps of crab are delicious and there’s almost no filler. This is a wonderful dish – easy to make too! Pairs great with Illumination Sauvignon Blanc made by Quintessa.
No doubt you’ve tried the steaks at Del Frisco’s. But the famous steakhouse is known for their take on crab cakes as well. Click here for the recipe. Pairs with the Mer Soleil ‘Silver’ (from Caymus).
And, if you haven’t been to Masraff’s, you gotta go! When there, make sure you try their COLOSSAL crab cakes. These are my favorite…the crab meat is the star…the beurre blanc w/ red wine reduction is the icing on the cake. This crab cake and an order of their amazing calamari is the perfect spring meal! This crab cake pairs beautifully with the Alexana Pinot Noir from Oregon (winery is owned by a Houston doctor). Delicious!
