When less is more

The foodies of the world were abuzz all weekend when Karen Haram posted a blog late Friday afternoon that declared one of San Antonio’s finest restaurants would be closing its doors soon. Le Reve, the charming, award winning French restaurant run by culinary artist Andrew Weissman and his darling wife Maureen will be no more.

Andrew tells me he wants to concentrate his efforts on his new ventures at The Pearl. And if Il Sogno, the fabulous Italian restaurant he recently opened there is any indication of what’s to come, pop a cork on that bottle of champagne you’ve been saving!

We may be losing Le Reve, but we’ll be gaining a number of wonderful dining venues in its place. The Sand Bar that used to cozy up right next to Le Reve downtown will re-open at the Pearl under Andrew’s watch and so will a new Spanish tapas restaurant.

Le Reve means ‘the dream’ and Andrew certainly achieved all he could have possibly dreamed his restaurant would be. Cudos to you Andrew and Maureen for continuing to dream. Your dreams take all of us foodies a little closer to heaven.

Andrew generously gave me the recipe to his world famous Onion Tart when I started my website more than a year ago – I have it in my recipe section at my website.
