We’re all looking for ways to spend less and I have good news. I’ve got some really good wine ideas and even a beer drink that will make your $$ last a lot longer.
When we were traveling in the Piedmont region of Italy we not only fell in love with the countryside, we also fell pretty hard for a very refreshing drink made with beer. The owner of the Hotel Castello di Sinio where we stayed showed us how to make it.
In a tall glass full of ice squeeze ½ lime. Then fill about ¾ with beer and top with any lemon/lime soda like Sprite, 7-Up or even the generic brands. One beer now serves two and it’s really good!
Spritzers used to be popular in the ‘80’s – they’re making a come back. The classic is simply half wine, red or white, and half soda served either with or without ice. For a fun spin, freeze some grapes and use them as ice cubes. It makes for a pretty presentation.
Some good inexpensive wines to try for spritzers or on their own – [yellow tail] Shiraz or [yellow tail] Chardonnay – both are about $9.
Now if Sangria is more your style. I’ve got a great recipe for ‘Franklin’s Cheap Sangria’ from my friends at Dry Comal Creek winery on my website at www.goodtastewithtanji.com in the recipe section. While you’re there be sure and sign up for my newsletter for specials and exclusive invitations to our events.
If you want to SEE these drinks, I’ll be on the Living Show with Shelly Miles Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. on
